Late night thoughts…

Hello, World

So as a general habit in my life, I tend to stay up late. Really late. Honestly, I don’t know why. I’m not doing anything that’s particularly important (unless you count watching countless videos from your favorite YouTubers-I don’t). I’m literally up for no reason. And don’t get me wrong, I LOVE sleep. Sleep is the best. It is my true love that calls me back to bed – until I’m rudely ripped out of my dreams into a state of chaos that is reality (it’s not THAT bad but it has its moments).

I’ll tell myself that I’m going to sleep earlier so I can wake up and get a load of work done in the morning. Next thing I know, it’s 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning and I’m regretting everything.

I mean it’s all fun and games until you realize how completely exhausted you’re going to be the next day.

I don’t know why I do this!

Almost every single night, this exact same scenario plays out and each time the exact same things happen with very slight variation. YouTube, Tumblr, Netflix, Google binges.

And when I’m not on the Internet-when my need for funny videos, memes, and entertainment has been fulfilled- I start thinking about random crap.

Let’s take tonight for example. It’s currently 2 AM and the following thoughts have crossed my mind:

1. My place in the universe.

Oh yeah, that’s great when you’re trying to sleep. What’s the significance in my tiny mortal life compared to the infinite expanse that is life as we, Humankind, know it?

2. What Hogwarts House would I be in?

This one actually means a lot to me, as strange as that may sound. I grew up reading the Harry Potter novels so they were a huge part of my childhood. J.K. Rowling actually inspired and sparked my interest in reading and writing more. I’m not particularly brave enough to be a Gryfindor, I’m not super friendly like you’d expect a Hufflepuff to be, nor am I that book smart like a Ravenclaw. I honestly feel like a Slytherin. I’m ambitious. I know what I want and I’m not afraid to go after it.

3. What the hell was that light in the sky over SoCal on Saturday?

Yes, yes, the question literally almost everyone has been asking. Can you blame me? I’m a curious person.

I think that’s it for this late night session. I think writing this has actually helped make me feel sleepy, so cheers.

What about you though?

Do you have problems sleeping?

What do you do to fall asleep?

Do you have any tips I could use?

Or do you just give in to the insomniac state and stay up all night?

Leave a comment letting me know!

Good night, World! Tis’ all for tonight, sleep tight!
