Dandelion Girl

I am a dandelion girl

I grow on the edges of the sidewalk

In between the cracks of the pavement

And when the wind blows

I find myself flying in every direction

Spread a little too thin

But from there I plant my roots

And grow again

Always searching for the sun

I listen to your wishes

Carrying them with me

Along with my own

As you send me back into the sky.

And while some can’t appreciate me

Others are able to find beauty

In something that knows it doesn’t quite fit in

But stays anyway

Sprouting among the tulips and roses

Just as lovely

Able to go where the wind takes me

Vibrant wherever I land

Though I might not fit in

I do belong

And so I search

Drifting on the wind for someplace to call my own
