Icarus

I was Icarus and she was my Sun

In my pride and hubris, I soared too close

And she sent me spiraling down

Then the Ocean rose up to catch me

Cradled me in her embrace

She opened my eyes

Salt singing in my wounds

Her touch a cold slap of reality

As harsh as it was loving

She pulled me into her depths

And as my lungs screamed for air

She healed me

Purging the fire left behind

Her cool caress, soothing into darkness
