Morning

Muscles sigh as they stretch, the subtle ache of the previous day both fading and sharpening in relief

Lungs swell with warm air, chest rising and falling as oxygen rushes through the body

Feet still ache as they hit the plush carpet, carrying me clumsily to the bathroom

Eyes blink back the spots dancing in their vision, warm lights coaxing them open

Ears catch the sound of clicking metal, an amused hum escapes my lips

Fur skims under my fingertips, turning quickly to the cool, wetness

~ on waking up
